Once upon a time, all good stories start this way, there was a young girl named Ana. Ana lived in a castle filled with all of her favorite things. She had a stable with two horses. They were beautiful horses, exactly the same in everyway. All black except for a white star on their foreheads. Ana also had plenty of small furry animals as well. She enjoyed the kittens who would play at her feet and chasing after the mice that hung around the stable. The puppies that her dog Isabelle had were very cute as well. Ana, it seemed, had everything except a friend. Oh Ana always felt loved, it wasn’t that, it was just she wanted the companionship of a real life human friend. One day while she and her mother were shopping in the marketplace Ana heard a girl singing. It was beautiful. A song that filled the air with such a sweet sound she just couldn’t help but find out where it was coming from. In one corner stood a booth Ana couldn’t remember seeing before. It was a new family who recently moved to the village. The father was a fisherman and the mother helped him clean and prepare the fish for selling. The family had two children, a boy, who of course, helped his father and a young girl who stayed near the family’s booth. It was there that Ana noticed Penelope. She was singing a happy tune but feeling quite lonley herself. As was told, they were new to the village, so Penelope was missing a friend too. Ana’s mother told her she wanted to pick up some fresh halibut for the family’s dinner that evening. Ana was so pleased she was going over to meet the young girl’s family. Once at the booth, the two girls smiled at each other. Ana told Penelope that she loved her singing. This made Penelope both very happy and proud. As her mother finished the purchase of the fish, Ana made plans to see Penelope again the next day. The girls met at the park and spent hours talking a playing games. This went on for many months. Ana and Penelope became the best of friends. They were both so happy to have met that day at the marketplace.

Molly was a daisy who lived in Miss Covington’s garden. Like most daisies, she loved the soil in her roots, the sunshine on her face, and the bit of water she would get from Miss Covington herself everyday at three o’clock precisely. On one particular Saturday, Molly was amazed to find the new flower blooming in her garden. Molly couldn’t for the life of her remember Miss Covington planting seeds. so this was a strange site indeed. This flower was different. It was small at first with a beautiful yellow top that caught Molly’s eye. The small flower grew much quicker than the other flowers in the garden. By noon, it was almost as tall as Molly herself. Unfortunatley for Molly, she had no idea she was sharing her beloved garden with a weed. Certainly, the weed was charming and she enjoyed the company for a short time, but weeds are notorious for getting beautiful flowers like Molly into trouble. At Three o’clock when Miss Covington visited her garden she was surprised to find him nestled in among Molly and the other daisies. “Hmm,” she thought to herself, “How did you get there? This will not do. You are going to have to go.” The weed tried to be as strong as possible. He dug his roots deep into the soil and held on to Molly tightly. Miss Covington tugged hard and removed the weed before it could bring too much harm to all of her flowers. Molly was happy that Miss Covington always looked after her and kept her safe in the garden.

A crab who lived in the ocean was happy one day to see that he was close to the beach. He hadn’t planned on visiting the beach but it was a lazy day and he was drifting where the tide took him. He crawled his way out of the salty sea to the warm sand of the beach. He found a spot close to the pier where he was out of the way of most of the families who were also spending time at the beach that day. He was enjoying the laughter of children, the smell of hot dogs on the boardwalk and even the sounds of the seagulls as the flew over his head. The crab was getting quite sleepy from the warmth of the sun and fell asleep under the pier. During his nap, he found himself dreaming of his day and how much he enjoyed being on the beach. “The sand in my claws is actually quite nice,” He thought to himself. After his nap, he found that the tide was rising once again to come to take him back out the the sea. He was very happy for the time that he spent that day on the beach.
